What are Active/Non-Active Trades?

If you have a significantly large income tax bill it may be worth seeking the advice of a Tax Consultant who specialises in Active and Non-Active Trades. There are excellent investment opportunities that are extremely efficient with regards to income and capital gains tax.

For many years there have been structures in place for individuals to invest into film and thereby gain considerable tax advantages. Many of these structures only exposed the investor to a small amount of risk, yet generated significant tax refunds, often well in excess of the amount personally invested. Many of these schemes took advantage of legislation specifically designed to assist the British film industry

Due to abuse of the legislation the revenue has progressively tightened the rules. Prior to the March 2007 budget even sterner action was taken which many felt spelt the end of this method of tax recovery / avoidance. Fortunately this is not the case.

Certainly the landscape has changed forcing new structures to be developed to support the film industry and gain valuable tax breaks for investors. Meanwhile many investors have been seeking alternative means of achieving a return whilst being as tax-efficient as possible. Hence the formation of trading ventures, both active and non-active, which derive revenue from exciting business opportunities that require funding. However, not all structures are the same, indeed there are many which do not meet our approval. This is where our experience comes in.

Because our expectation is to work with our clients for many years it is of paramount importance that we have total confidence in the structure itself and the provider of it. We therefore research very carefully before agreeing to promote any business product to our clients

If you have earned in excess of £100,000 in any of the last 3 tax years and / or have concerns over a significant capital gain, either last year or this, contact us for a full assessment and consultation

We believe this new breed of investment will prove to be very popular with investors. As with all such schemes, it is vital to receive full advice from a specialist.
